Lil Weezy Finds New Job in the Slammer

Lil’ Wayne is still keeping fans interested from behind bars.
The Young Money Millionaire is currently serving a one-year long sentence at New York’s Rikers Island after pleading guilty to an armed weapons possession arrest from 2007 in New York City. According to Rolling Stone, Wayne originally was supposed to be sentenced in February, but managed to get two postponements on his hearings due to various health reasons court procedures that needed to be taken care of.
Wayne was finally prosecuted and sentenced on March.
Recently, it was released to the public how Wayne’s been keeping himself busy during his time at Rikers so far. Antonia “Toya” Johnson, former ex-wife and mother of Wayne’s oldest daughter Reginae, told Rolling Stone, “Wayne has a job. They got him on suicide watch for other prisoners. He watches the crazy prisoners and makes sure they don’t kill themselves.”
Johnson admitted although the work is not extremely difficult, Wayne, along with many of the other inmates, wished the nine to five job paid out more.
Yet apparently Wayne’s transition to prison has not been as traumatic as one might think and according to Johnson, he has even managed to avoid getting a haircut so far.
However, being behind bars has not stopped the outspoken rapper from reaching out to those important to him. Aside from watching over suicidal victims, Wayne has become a full-fledged prison blogger.
Wayne’s blog, entitled “Weezy Thanx You,” was launched April 2 and gives Wayne the opportunity to respond to fan emails, concerns, and questions.
“During my prison stint, I want my fans to know I love you. I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you,” Wayne wrote on his site.
Wayne explains on his blog that he spends most of his time working out, thinking about his kids, and reading his Bible every day.
“Jail didn’t make me find God,” he wrote. “He’s always been there. They can lock me up, but my spirit and my love can never be confined to prison walls.”
Pending good behavior, Wayne might be back rapping on the streets as early as eight months into his sentence. Until then, a timer on Wayne’s blog will continue to count down the days till his liberation.
According to Rolling Stone, Wayne’s March 8 update as he was heading to jail was optimistic.
“Law is mind without reason,” Wayne wrote. “I’ll return.”
