After seven rigorous weeks of the Spring semester, spring break is on the horizon for UMW students. This break is a great time to catch up on some sleep, reconnect with old friends, get ahead on schoolwork, travel and spend time with family.

Using the upcoming week to escape the usual stress of the semester will be the best way to come back in March fully refreshed and ready to finish out the second half of the semester stronger than the first. Making sure to catch up on sleep and staying hydrated is pivotal in a successfully restful break. The everyday routine at Mary Washington puts wear and tear on the body and the mind.

While this break in action will be fun, it is important to have fun in moderation and to always be cautious, especially when consuming alcohol. Always make sure to set limitations before the night starts and to ensure there is always a designated driver or Uber available. Drinking water is also a major key to a successful night out.

Regardless of your plans for the short break, the Blue & Gray Press encourages all students to be safe. Warm weather and the summer countdown await. It’s a great week to be an eagle.
