Washington Wizards’ Forward Antawn Jamison suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s preseason game on Oct. 15 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Wizards are hoping that Jamison will not need surgery on the shoulder, but he has been shut down for the rest of the preseason and his status for the team’s regular season opener on Nov. 3 is unknown.

Jamison has been an integral part of the Wizard’s since his arrival to the team in 2004. Last season Jamison was named as an Eastern Conference All-Star as he averaged 22.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 steals, while shooting 75.4 percent from the line and 46.8 percent from the field.

While it is being reported that Jamison’s injury is not too serious, it is not a good sign for Wizards fans who have had to deal with the injuries of star PG Gilbert Arenas the past two years.

Washington basketball fans feel that if Arenas, Jamison, and forward Caron Butler can all stay healthy, that the Wizards can be a playoff team and be a dangerous team if they get in. However, with Jamison already going down, things are already not looking good for those playoff hopes.
