1 min read

Everything one can hope to see or experience in the continent of Asia will be at UMW this Friday, Nov. 13, when the Asian Student Association presents the Taste of Asia at 7 p.m.  The event, which will take place in the Great Hall, will include many different foods, music and dance performances from many Asian cultures.

The event will start with an international fashion show that will feature styles from countries including Pakistan, India, Korea, Vietnam, Japan, China, Mongolia and the Philippines.

Other performances during the event will include Bollywood dancing, Korean pop dancing, Afghan dancing, Bhangra, Indian dancing, Korean fan dancing and break dancing.

Off-campus vendors will be catering the event.  There will be several different kinds of food including Indian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean.

ASA, whose goal is to establish a strong community on campus, arranges many events throughout the year to promote Asian awareness on campus. Taste of Asia is the main event of Asian Culture Week, which is being held from Nov. 9 through Nov. 13.  ASA encourages all UMW students, regardless of their ethnicity, to join ASA and attend events and weekly meetings to learn about Asian cultures.

Admission to Taste of Asia is $1 or one can of food to go towards the Thanksgiving food drive. Students can buy tickets in advance from Nov. 9 through Nov. 13 in the Eagle’s Nest.
