Chris Garcia,

assistant professor in the college of business, presented a paper titled “Demystifying MapReduce” in the Analytics and Big Data track at the Complex Adaptive Systems 2013 conference in Baltimore, Md. The paper will be published in the journal, Procedia Computer Science.

Eric Lorentzen,

associate professor of English, spoke at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. on Nov. 15, on “Teaching Dickens and Cultural Studies in the 21st Century.”

Mindy Erchull and Miriam Liss,

published a paper in the journal of Gender Issues. Erchull, associate professor of psychology, and Liss, professor of psychology, co-wrote the paper titled, “Exploring the Concept of Perceived Female Sexual Empowerment: Development and Validation of the Sex is Power Scale.”

James Gaines,

professor in modern foreign languages and literatures presented a paper titled, “The ‘Cantique à Madame de Maintenon’ and the Outbreak of Émigré Satire in 1695,” at the 23rd annual meeting of the Society for Interdisciplinary French Seventeenth Century Studies.
