chair of the department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education and professor of education and mathematics, gave a presentation at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore, Md. on Jan. 18. In the presentation, “Lessons Learned: A First Attempt at Using a Flipped Classroom Model,” Sheckles described course modifications she used to “flip” a course she taught and the outcomes of that experiment.

Debra Hydorn,
professor of mathematics, presented at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Baltimore, Md. on Jan. 16. Hydorn presented “Infographics Activities to Promote Graphical and Quantitative Literacy,” which described her First-Year seminar activities. Hydorn also had “Gnomon Board” accepted at the Exhibition of Mathematical Art of the Joint Meetings.
