Lady Antebellum frontman welcomes big changes

The lead singer from the country band Lady Antebellum, Charles Kelley, has some significant firsts this year. With the release of his first solo record and missing the Grammy’s for the early arrival of his first child, it is clear that 2016 will be a year of firsts for Kelley.
Since completing their Wheels Up Tour in September, Lady Antebellum announced they would be taking time away from the tour circuit to write and record new music following the success of their latest album “747.” It became apparent that Kelley was using his time off for other things besides the band. With the release of his first solo single “The Driver” Kelley began a new chapter in his music career.
Even though Kelley is pursuing a side solo career, Kelley has confirmed that the band is still together and intends to be for a long time, especially since Kelley’s solo career had a rocky start.
“Kelley admits that not all Lady Antebellum fans have immediately embraced his solo work, and some of them don’t even seem to recognize his name,” said Andrew Leahey, a contributor for Rolling Stone. This has become one of Kelley’s greatest struggles as he is building his solo career.
He cancelled his first solo tour primarily because of this lack of exposure. While his career is on an upswing with his solo album just releasing, this is not the only exciting to happen to Kelley so far in 2016, he recently welcomed his first child.
Charles and his wife Cassie welcomed their son Ward Charles Kelley on Feb. 11. This comes as a great joy to the happy couple as they suffered with fertility struggles, having a less than one percent chance of natural conception. Baby Kelley weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces and measured 20 inches long. This now makes the third Lady Antebellum baby, preceded by Hillary Scott’s daughter Eisele and Dave Haywood’s son Cash.
With so many exciting things already happening in 2016, be on the lookout for what’s next from Charles Kelley in his solo pursuits as well as the next release from Lady Antebellum.
