Press Release: SGA Statement Regarding Our Values and Beliefs

Fredericksburg, VA, January 31, 2017–

The UMW SGA would like to emphasize its solidarity with the minority and immigrant populations at Mary Washington, as well as express its continued support for diversity and inclusivity on campus and in the Unites States. The SGA prides itself on being an apolitical organization, preferring to not be involved with politically driven protests or movements. However, this particular issue is seen as one of humanitarianism and common decency by our members and student leaders, warranting a response and an official stance. We encourage all affected UMW community members to reach out for help or someone to talk to, and we assure you that you are welcome and valued as an Eagle.
